Kathryn Turner is a counsel in O’Melveny’s Project Development & Real Estate group. She provides customized counsel and strategy to clients regarding the acquisition, disposition, development, leasing, operation, and management of all types of commercial real estate assets. Kathryn has extensive experience representing borrowers in secured financing transactions, including mortgage and mezzanine loan originations, modifications and workouts.

Kathryn’s unique industry experience also includes large-scale project finance, infrastructure development, and public-private partnership transactions where she advises clients on major transportation infrastructure assets.

  • Advised underwriters in connection with a US$1.1 billion redevelopment by a major airline of terminal facilities at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston
  • Represented borrower in a US$1.5 billion CMBS loan secured by the iconic Metropolitan Life Insurance Company building in New York City
  • Counsel to a publicly traded REIT in a single asset, US$540 million (in the aggregate) CMBS mortgage and mezzanine loans secured by leading retail center in Brooklyn
  • Represented real estate investor and developer in the acquisition and financing (US$228 million in mortgage and mezzanine loans in the aggregate) of 8 properties in Southern California for the development of mixed use residential and retail projects
  • Advised retirement pension fund in multiple mortgage and mezzanine loan originations (US$428 million in the aggregate)
  • Represented government agency in transportation sector in refinancing of more than US$700 million in outstanding bond obligations, in complex transaction involving a tender offer and the issuance of multiple series of bonds
  • Counseled a major US grocer in leasing and real estate-related matters
  • For almost 10 years, Kathryn has served as primary outside real estate counsel to a medical technology company and has represented the company in its acquisition, development and leasing of multiple properties in Southern California to expand its campus
  • Advised borrower in connection with complex deed-in-lieu sale of mixed-use high rise in Portland, Oregon
